We interviewed Lizbeth Santillan, a lifelong resident in South Thornton, about what community organizing means and how we can use it to engage folks. Some amazing insight that she gave us was community organizing doesn't always have to be political in the sense of how we traditionally think of it. Community organizing can be building ties in your community, which is just as radical.
We met with Dani Dawes-CO, a strongly connected grass-roots organizer and community leader in Adams County/Thornton. Dani offered valuable insight into community organizing, the power of youth, and the role of compassion in social change. Dedicated to empowering South Thornton’s residents to create a more inclusive, engaged, and supportive community, Dani has a track record of empowering young marginalized students to take back their right to self-determination.
