Tlahuatl

Almost universal in Indigenous cultures, Ahuatlmeh are revered as a plethora of sacred symbols. Roots often represent relationships with both our land and our people. Their bark tells us stories of our ancestors before. As their branches dance, they move with a wisdom we wish to emulate, and sustenance sprouts from their branches to nourish us. Thus, below our Mission and Vision, we have the most important value from each of the 6 siblings to represent each branch of our Ahuatl:

Mission

Empowering diverse students from South Thornton through scholarship, guidance, and community action.

Vision

We see a future where foundation constituents not only excel academically, but emerge as balanced leaders, deeply connected to their community, ready to reclaim their right to self-determination.

Faith

Faith is the groundwork for many things that we believe in; We have faith in our people, we believe in our communities, we have conviction in seeing the success of our peers, we have faith in our vision. Faith substantiates our work

Perserverance

Not many speak of the difficulty of the proverbial "grind". Although daunting,  we accept this task in order to improve the conditions for ourselves and our people. Learning how to continue in the face of the adversity on our respective "grinds" is what defines an exceptional person.

Risk

The struggles of "trailblazers" is not shared enough. Having the personal strength to do something that hasn't been done in your family is no simple feat and no matter the strength of the support system that you have, your success in those circumstances are often held to your own ability to do so.

Honesty

Ahuatlmeh do not lie, they are stewards of Turtle Island. They communicate how the ecosystems are performing; they relay messages from the environment. To embrace the value of tlahuatlmeh is to embody honesty.

Integrity

Throughout your life, you begin to understand that your actions impact those around you, especially those who look to you for guidance. Learning to make the right choice no matter the difficulty is imperative to setting the right example.

Balance

The key to fulfillment is finding balance in an everchanging world of impermanence. Learning to flow with your surroundings instead of trying to control them will allow you to focus on your inner peace, ultimately honing your ability to move through and balance multiple worlds.
